Will the last and weakest one be eaten if the getting gets tough?

Here, just now, one bird has been tearing some white stuff and feed the other one which funny enough was facing the wrong way.

In the end, the fed one was fed up with turning its head and sprung up, revealing their labour of love.

Me, too. But it's like watching paint dry. I dipped into this one frequently and was lucky enough to catch those moments.

The one in Rutland UK is very flat. Not so good as this one. Those in Cumbria and Scotland could not be viewed because of incompatible software and language! Shame.

Taken just now. One tears the meat and fed the other one. After that, the bird flew off again.

I made a mistake. There are 4 eggs for the Rutland Ospreys. HD is good, but you can't really see a whole bird. This couple is a bit more resourceful. A big chuck of fish was left for the hatcher to consume whilst the other one went foraging! The hatcher is also very energetic and is constantly moving its body to help hatch the eggs, but its head or tail is always missing in the HD webcam!

Strange - Rutland:

One egg at the tail end seems to be half open and empty and there is one near her front. This osprey seems to be very inexperienced.

What is the point of having HD when the bird's head gets chopped off most of the times?

@alp, I'm really enjoying your narration!! (y)

I got curious, so here is what I've learned to try to help you tell who's who!

The female will be slightly larger than the male. On average, females weigh about 15–20% more than males, and are 5–10% longer in wing and tail length. The male will do most of the hunting, the female will do most of the incubating. It was originally thought that only the females had a speckled "collar," (the websites call it either a necklace or a bib,) and the males did not. They have since found out that females don't always have a necklace, and that males can have a bib - so this is not foolproof. o_O

Female with necklace :

Mated couple - no necklaces:

I had a look at the Columbus/ABC ospreys, and was just in time to see a shift change! It was funny, the egg-sitter seemed content, but then the other walked over to stand beside, hunkered down a bit, and just pushed the egg-sitter out of the way!! :ROFLMAO:

I clicked off the site, and when I clicked back, it was just a view of the Columbus skyline. Why are they telling people on the news to watch, then all I see if traffic? :cautious:

@MaryMary I prefer your narrative more - so much more light-hearted. Beautiful photos. I never could tell. Thank you for the education.

I have seen more action in the Calgary ospreys than our Rutland one. Must say HD quality is better, but the heads are usually chopped off.:p

See this Rutland one - it's a real fidgetter. Look!
Untitled-1.jpg

It keeps rocking on the eggs. I wonder if it will squash all of them.

This hatcher bird is always itchy. Earlier, I saw a shadow of a big bird flying over the nest, so it must be very alert. The chicks are as restless as the mama! As I said, this couple is more resourceful

and there is a fish tail nearby.
