Colin that was good of you to help your neighbour like that, I hope that you don't have snow.
I hope that you had a nice bath, not aloud to have baths in this house has to be showers. Hubby thinks that it takes too much heated water.

Hi,

8C here at the moment but cooler earlier on when I wandered up the garden; I've just created a small path and done lots of hoeing; I'm creating a couple of areas of meadow flowers; the area at the top of the garden the plants are now taking off; I've planted other things in the same area so have been hoeing around these before the meadow flowers take over; I've enjoyed this session in the garden but Blackie will be here again shortly putting down more rain. Things are at last coming together; I applied lawn feed and weed and Blackie has done a good job watering this in; the grass is already looking better. :)

Kind regards, Colin.

Hi,

Thanks Logan; I'm sure Blackie's sister will save you using your hosepipe; I can also recommend his other sister Gale who is useful for drying washing hanging outside on a line but the danger is she becomes a bit erratic and tends to blow washing and everything else away. It's a muddy paw day for you today. :D

It feels really cold here this morning; Bron's put the gas fire on to give the central heating a boost but then we're only into the fair month of May. The rain is still coming down so Blackie is on top form and it's the usual black hole.

On 31st April I ordered 25kg of bird peanuts having bought these many times with quick delivery; they finally arrived yesterday the label stating 24 hour delivery; shortly after they arrived I received an email apology from the supplier stating they had been upgrading their computer ordering program but run into difficulties; because of this please accept our apologies and receive 20% off your next order using the code supplied.

On 1st May I ordered through eBay 4mm T&E cable having drilled both front and rear bungalow walls to accept outside double sockets; to date the cable still hasn't arrived.

Last week we set off to "The Range" in Barnsley; every vehicle was allowed through but we were stopped by the police because a group of cyclists were having a race causing untold disruption; we've never seen as many police motorcycles and cars also an helicopter above; we tried two detours but each time police motorcycles had blocked the streets; we were forced to wait until the police let us go by which time we abandoned our visit to The Range.

We've got to plan our journeys around school runs because it's a nightmare trying to drive up our lane; in front of the school is a very large grassed area but grass is more important than safety; huge wagons and busses are having to drive down the pavement; us too.

It never lets up and now we're already into May and I'm grounded regarding working outdoors because of our usual dire weather. I want to install the outside sockets and have the sockets and junction boxes etc but still no cable. It's not all doom and gloom though; the rain is bringing up the meadow flowers a treat. :)

Kind regards, Colin.

Hi,

May I suggest you move next door to us zigs; we can guarantee you'll have all the rain you can handle but it might give way at times to sleet; snow and hail sometimes all in the same day.

A couple of pictures below just taken.

Kind regards, Colin.

Our sloping patio; if the rain stops for a couple of hours then the patio will be dry also the garden too will rapidly dry out; water heads down the valley at speed.

A picture up the garden; it looks wonderful when wet. In heavy rain the stone steps turn into a pretty fast flowing cascade bringing lots of soil down.

Hi
Thanks Colin yes going to have muddy paws and dirty bellies where the dirt splashes up from the pavement.

That's good that you had that discount for your next peanut order.

Children these days have got it easy, I had to walk to school even though it was a very long way and had to cross a very busy road.
Sorry that you didn't get to "The Range" at Barnsley.

Thanks Logan. Looks like another wet miserable day for the two of us; Blackie didn't let up at all yesterday and he was still putting the rain down at bedtime. More muddy paws and bellies to look forward to. :)

I bet your schools never closed if an inch of snow was forecast; we used to still go to school when the snow was over the top of our wellies and yes it was a case of walking because in those days kids had legs with feet that were all terrain and we couldn't afford bus fare; food was a luxury too?

We finally managed our trip to The Range in Barnsley yesterday and this morning have visited a garden centre; when we arrived back home yesterday we had a natter with our neighbours gardener; he was wrapped up in weather proof clothes; within only minutes both Bron and I were soaking wet; my leather body warmer is still drying out; Blackie really is good to us ensuring dust doesn't bother us.

recently I've been experiencing email problems where quite a number of my outgoing messages have gone to the email grave yard in hyperspace; for years I've used Office 2003 Outlook; I searched for updates but its no longer supported. A friend I had sent five messages to all which disappeared has kindly sent me a link to a free download for "OE Classic" I've now got this up and running so my fingers are crossed having just used it to send two emails. Life is full of these problems.

Kind regards, Colin.

Hi Colin yes another dirty paws and belly day but not as bad as yesterday.

Yes our school was always open, but I think that it was because there local teachers and children. My primary school wasn't far to go just up the road.
As you say couldn't afford bus fare and the buses wouldn't go that way.
Always had to have school dinner because it would take too long to get there and back, but I liked them.

Glad that you managed to get to The Range today it's terrible when you keep getting wet, I don't like it when doing the walks, always keep changing my clothes.

Computer support is like that, they suddenly stop. I've got no idea how to use one, but I have been learning how to type with Keith helping me to do verses for the cards.
That's good about your friend doing that for you and I hope things turn out ok.

We have a smart TV and it's supposed to have updates but the last one wasn't very good and caused problems so hubby hasn't updated it, he's waiting for the next one.
Have a good evening

Hi,

Thanks Logan. Stick with the computer you'll soon pick it up then you'll wonder however you managed without using a computer. The keyboard is about the slowest to master; I only use a couple of fingers at the keyboard but they are laser fingers as you can probably guess. :D

We don't have a smart TV but we used to have a smart DVD player but it started to wind me up after being used extensively so we bought an android which we still use.

We never had school dinners because we couldn't afford them.

I should have remained in bed this morning due to my usual bad luck. I did the usual three supermarket shopping in the rain this morning; driving home from Aldi in Waterloo I had to stop to allow two small ducks to waddle across the road in front of me indicating how much rain we suffer. It rained all morning but after dinner it finally dried up a bit so I dashed out to install two outside 13A sockets; a week ago I drilled the front wall going right through for the new cable but found the SDS drill bit too short to go right through the back wall; I visited Screwfix and bought a 450mm long drill bit so I was ready this afternoon; drat it; I was amazed when this drill bit was also too short. Nothing for it but to visit Screwfix once again this time detouring to miss the dreaded schools gridlock. Back home at last I broke right through the wall but with my luck the bit went straight through a wooden shelf support; I chopped out with hammer and chisel then I drilled through the floor board only to directly hit a joist; having sorted this out I was about to thread the new cable through when it suddenly turned into a black hole once again; I managed to bring the tools inside just before Blackie gave everything a really good soaking.

This morning because of Blackie I decided to post on the sister DIY site; 2 garden chairs arrived from Argos which were expected; back at the keyboard the phone rang; it was BT annoying me something about texts? we don't have BT so I hung up; the postman arrived with another load of junk mail; back at the keyboard the phone rang again; once again it was BT so they are now blocked; at dinner time I popped next door because last night I received an email from our neighbour who is in Bridlington enjoying herself saying a parcel was due could I have a look for it; I went round in the rain but no parcel; went round again at dinnertime today still no parcel; just received an email to say the parcel had been pushed through the cat flap; just one day in my life and I can't wait for tomorrow.

Kind regards, Colin.

Hi,

Sounds like my pet cloud Blackie has a twin living abroad DirtMechanic. :)

Yesterday I was rained off by Blackie but the forecast for today was light rain showers this afternoon; I was out early and installed the outside double socket to the bungalow rear wall having suffered rolling around under the bungalow with the cable. Next was the front wall double socket and I thought great at last a bit of peace from Blackie; then Blackie arrived with a vengeance with a heavy downpour but for once I beat him as I put my tools away; both sockets now installed to the walls and after dinner the cables to clip and connect to the supply. Anyone want to adopt Blackie and his sister Gale?

Kind regards, Colin.

Sunny and +26c forecast for today, and it's about time for some of that. Bears, mountain lions and coyote pups with aggressive mammas have been spotted in the city.
