Trees from seed

They're so cute, those tiny baby seedlings!

I was chatting to someone local the other day, who's interested in foraging, and he suggested I use some of the sweet chestnut kernels from a local tree to plant some - and I might well do that. I'll be collecting them a bit earlier this year, stick them in the freezer for a bit, then plant them into pots - they take a looong time to grow, and I'll be leaving the area in 5 or 6 years, so I'll be taking them with me. I'm really looking forward to it!

Yesterday it got to 77 today it was a mist in the upper 40s , I wandered around the woods again planting the high spots
If I get trees with color I will be a happy camper, We have a few spots that we like to get out of the sum sun enjoy a beverage and sit .
It will be a real enjoyment to have even more beauty around us 5 to 10 years
