My old cactus is going through the roof!

Help! My cactus has a huge new shoot and is inches away from the ceiling .

..what do I do?

Looks like a nice Agave plant to me. Most of those I'm familiar with, will die back after it blooms and produce pups that can make new plants.

Do you know what variety it is?

If it were mine and assuming it is going to die anyway, I would remove that shoot before it falls into the window/screen.
