Good evening to everyone here, I am a lapsed gardener from the UK looking to get back into the swing of things again. I have worked in a professional capacity in horticulture but now I find myself desk bound in the construction industry heading towards retirement when hopefully I can indulge in my passion once more.

I have a concrete back garden so must of my growing is done in containers at moment but there is room to diversify when I get the time. I have joined to try and rekindle my enthusiasm a bit more by communicating with like minded individuals.

Dont be grumpy lol.

And welcome.

Maybe dont feed them until they understand where it comes from?

The schools here take kids to orchards, greenhouses and small farms to teach them. A lot of kids come away from that with a new perspective.

Trying to get my grandkids interested but if its not on a tablet forget about it. Does anyone have any suggestions? Gardening with Grumpy Gramps does not appeal to them
Here across the pond and down in Texas I have the same situation with my grandkids. They love to eat the corn, potatoes, tomatoes, etc. from the garden but have little or no interest in growing it.

My hope is they will "grow" out of that frame of mind.

Welcome. If you can manage put in some raised beds and fill with compost. The kids might enjoy growing vegetables they like and it will be more exciting than containers.

Welcome, I shouldn't worry to much, kids learn by example, they may not be that interested now, but as they get older and start doing stuff older people do ...

I used to take teenagers with learning difficulties for hour long sessions in their gardens and it was a lot easier with them than my grandchildren I can tell you. I have 3 raised beds in which I grow herbs and vegetables, the only time they are interested is when I pull something from the ground, but that does not last long.

Anyway enough of my family, thanks for all the welcome messages I hope to contribute positively and learn some more tricks along the way.
