My niece just had her 5th birthday so I sent her these really colorful books by Ellie Merriweather. I especially like "King Henry" (about a funny cat) and I also like "Where Are the Mulberries" and "The Montana Whale Dolphin." I got a good deal on these on Amazon. They are super cute!

Margaret Storey is one of the many children's fantasy authors that preceded J.K. Rowling by decades. Also like most of the others, she is now out-of-print and largely forgotten. Do read anything you can find of hers. Timothy and Two Witches is the first book in Storey's most popular series.
