What a magnificent little bird  the clarity is amazing. Feels like i can reach out and touch it. Is it at a feeder?

I think this is some variety of Thread-Waisted Wasp; I saw it while in the yard and took a bunch of pics, but only one semi-focused. I had my camera set to macro, but I should have increased my shutter speed:mad: It was just darting all around, much like a Hoverfly.

Next time...

Hi,

WOW; what a beautiful bird Greenhorn; thanks for posting it; I wish I could take crisp clear pictures like you but I end up dashing to get the camera before the birds disappear.

Kind regards, Colin.

My daughter is a bird watcher, I get to go out with her on occasion. I've always liked photography and it is a big part of her bird watching efforts. I used to be the master and her the student, now I think she is the master and I am the student. I make sure we (she) is well equipped :).

Taken with one of these 150-600mm Tamon lens on a Canon body from about 3 - 4 meters. http://www.tamron-usa.com/product/lenses/a011.html
