We have them, too! Since they are somewhat nocturnal, we don't see them often, but my husband (aka camera wizard) managed to get a photo:

Following post #380 I was able to take this photo without getting on a step ladder and peering into the nest...so i did. Waiting for mom, she is near and i can hear her scolding me in the distance. By the number of poops all over the place it looks like the little hummingbirds are being very well fed :)

[QUOTE = "Beverly, post: 121484, участник: 3056"] похоже, что маленькие колибри очень хорошо питаются [/ QUOTE]

Yes, guys quickly add weight! If the nest turns over, they will not even notice!

Sheal, I'd never seen nor heard of a great spotted woodpecker. We have downeys and red breasted woodpeckers and always enjoy them at the feeders, or climbing up and down the trees.

@Sheal your glass must be very clean, the photos are nice and crispy. What a pretty little woodpecker:love:

Wood Ducks nest in holes in trees, but i don't think they make the nesting holes, i think they use holes already made by woodpeckers and such, but i am not certain. Before the chicks can fly, but when they have reached a certain maturity, the mom kicks them out of the nest and they fall to the ground, sometimes from great heights. Then the mom flies down and the chicks follow her to the water where they first learn to swim, later they learn to fly.:)
