What causes this yellow stuff that I think is called dog vomit mold in my garden bed? Is it anything I should be concerned about and/or is there a way to stop it from growing?

No concern at all. It is just the fruiting body of a beneficial mold. This slime mold helps in the decomposition of organic matter in the soil. If you don't like it just cover it up with a bit of mulch. It usually appears when there is a lot of moisture about.

Plasmodial Slime Molds (Myxomycetes) are beneficial decomposers, and they are also fascinating to observe.
Take some time to look at your Slime Mold every day. The color, texture and even location of Slime Mold will change as the moves, feeds, and then sporulates. Perhaps it sound silly to some, but they really are interesting 'wildlife' to have around.
