Thanks for the response. it might be not a June bug. It's much smaller only 1/3 size of June bug. And I found it in door.

If you can get another picture showing its head it would be a help. @Larisa could be correct but normally this insect is not found in any central or western states. Mainly it is found in the northeast and Nova Scotia. And Great Britain where it is native.

just found one yesterday. And put it to backyard already. next time will take a photo showing the head.

I have the same bug destroying my potted basil and mint. Comes in the night. Few years ago it destroyed my lavender. How do I get rid of it? :(

The beetle in the photo does appear to be a Weevil (Curculionidae), though not necessarily Barynotus obscurus. It is good to keep in mind that Curculionidae is the largest family of Beetles (~83,000 described species).

For that matter, Beetles (Coleoptera) are the largest order of insects (~400,000 described species). Approximately one of every four described animals is a beetle...
