Hmm. I was thinking Thai basil but the leaves don't look quite right. Hopefully someone else can identify it for you!

It kind of looks like a wild berry plant that I allow to grow in my yard, especially with the red stem, but the leaves seem a little too small. I haven't ID'ed this plant yet, still working on that, but I can't eat the berries, weird taste, but our State Bird http://dos.myflorida.com/florida-facts/florida-state-symbols/state-bird/ loves the berries, and a few other species go for it, so I allow it to keep coming back...

I'm not sure either, but it looks like a Celosia seedling . ( Celosia argentea f. plumosa ?)

Poke weed?

That was my first thought too, but I have only ever seen young pokeweed with green or very dull purple stems: I think it grows into its color, which tends not to be as bright red as this.

Maybe Japanese Knotweed (Fallopia japonica)?

Yeah, if it is knotweed, OP might be in trouble. (I am no expert and have not ever seen knotweed in person, so don't take my idle speculation as fact.) On the plus side, since the plant is so notorious in the UK, it would probably be easy to find an authority to confirm or deny.

Where did you find this stuff, Crayon? Was it growing wild?

It might be a good idea for OP to google the young plant of knotweeds and if he/she is worried, best is to burn the lot .. IT'S NO LAUGHING MATTER!

PS I googled and saw some similar with red stems.. but could upload the very good one

Sorry for the confusion GreenBean. I was answering to roadrunners questionable plant. Not the OP's.
