"Edibles" is the subject of September's photo of the month. Here in the USA, September is also Hunger Action month. One in eight Americans go hungry, including children and the elderly. We gardeners do what we can--giving produce to food banks that can accept home-grown, donating to food pantries and charities that support food distribution, and helping at soup kitchens and free diners.
If you can, please help feed the hungry. Whatever you do or give will be appreciated by someone who doesn't know where their, or their child's next meal is coming from.

We have the same problem here too @marlingardener ...we have food donation areas in most of our supermarkets, encouraging people to buy extra to give to those in need. We also have food banks set up in empty shops too.(y)

It was recently highlighted in the news that many, many children had gone hungry during the recent 6 wks summer holidays. This is because their parents rely on the free school meals scheme to provide their children with their main meal of the day during term time. It's so scary to think that hunger is so close to home, yet so many people may be totally unaware of it!:(
