texas, full sun. front yard.

want perennial or flowering shrub

most people have crepe myrtle or knockout roses in our hood.

i want something that tall, 4-8', that will flower. not a tree , not 20' tall.

i thought about oleander but it look like its invasive. but really anything other than crepe myrtle or KO rose.

any ideas?

Oleander is not invasive, in my experience. However, it is highly toxic, every part of it. If you have pets or toddlers, don't plant oleander.
How about lantana, especially lantana horrida. Despite its name, it is a great shrub with lovely flowers and grows to 4' to 5' high and almost as wide.
