I’m in 10b and bought COSTCO lily bulbs in February. I put the bag in basement dark & dry. I pulled them out to plant today (April 28th) because I procrastinated. They had sprouted with 6 to 8 inch shoots (anemic white because no light). Bulbs were packed in bag upside down so shoots came around bulb to go upright. I had 3 choices. 1. Plant the bulb correctly burying the shoot in the ground or 2 plant the bulb upside down to allow the shoot to be above ground or 3 cut the shoot, plant bulb correctly and hope a new shoot would emerge. I chose option 2 but what would you do?

Don't damage the shoot or you will get nothing this season. I would plant the bulbs upside down with the shoot upwards in the light. Eventually the bulbs will turn themselves the correct way. If not then you can do it for them once they go dormant at the end of the year.
