I'm looking for a dwarf tree, small bush, or other plant that will go on either side of three steps leading to my front porch and front door. The bed along the porch will have Encore Azaleas Embers, which is a reddish bloom. I prefer that this plant get no taller than 3 to 4 ft maximum and no more than 3 feet wide. You can also recommend something shorter. I'm open to any suggestion. This bed gets full sun during the summer -- very hot and humid.

Pieris is nice as it is also an acid loving plant. Or a pot of camellia with three different flowers (a stripey red and white, a red and a white).

So many nice suggestions already, but I'll add Gardenia jasminoides to the list. It's another acid-lover that wants some sun and it will be in fragrant bloom when the azaleas most likely are not.
