Hi all
We have what I think is an overgrown Irish Yew. I must admit I’ve been lazy by waiting until the end of summer each year to sort but keep forgetting.
I have been tying it up with wire to stop it spreading and being damaged by snow in the winter but now I believe it is time to sort.
I’d like to shape it rather than just lop the top off but is it too established to work with now?
I’ve seen the mess my neighbours have made of their conifers and really worried that I’ll trim too much and it will be bare underneath.
Has anybody got experience with these at all or any pruning advice.
I think it needs at least a couple of feet off but I don’t want to kill it as it’s beautiful.
Any help much appreciated.
Thanks
Christian.
