I planted a bunch of fruit trees around April 20. I followed the planting directions and have been vigilant about watering. I made a 3' mulch ring around the tree (and no mulch is touching the tree). Now my cherry tree look like this. Could I be overwatering? I water deeply every few days. I'm not sure why this is happening. :( Any advice?

Looks like watering too often. Down where the roots are it stays moist much longer than at the soil surface and if it is only moist enough to barely tell at 2 or 3 inches deep, it doesn't need watering. Wait to water until it is DRY 2 or 3 inches deep.
