Need help with my plant

I’m not sure what it is, i always call it a palm tree jokingly. Recently it doesnt feel too good, i dont like how the leaves scrunched up, and i dont like these blemishes because they look like fungi or some disease like that, and also some of the branches bended. Can anyone help or offer advice?

Your plant appears to me to be in serious decline...likely caused by the aphids that appear in the last photo...they may be sucking the life out of your plant. I would spray it with Neem Oil to kill those, but the plant is really down.

Thank you for your response. What plant do you think it is? And do you think other issues are caused by overwatering, maybe? And I’m not sure if it is aphids, the blemishes i took pictures of aren’t alive — i mean, ive never seen bugs on it before or anything like that

Looks kind of like a banana plant to me. That white stuff could be remains of a scale insect. Scale insects are tiny, immobile pests in the superfamily Coccoidea (order Hemiptera). They suck the life out of plants if left untreated, Drooping fronds are symptomatic.


The Neem Oil treatment I recommended should get 'em but you probably will have to repeat it.

Thank you for your response once again. I’ll try the treatment — but after its done, will the plant go back to normal? or should i cut off some leaves

It is pretty far gone...may or may not recover but worth trying. I wouldn't cut the leaves right now...hit it Neem.

It looks like a Bird-of-Paradise to me. I can't give you too many recommendations, despite having several in my yard, because I basically ignore them, therefore I don't know much about what they like.

However, it probably would like a bigger pot, but that's just a guess. I recommend looking up Bird-of-Paradise for best growing conditions.

Friend, you have a water management issue. Lay out some newspapers and very gently lay the plant on the papers on its side, and gently tap the white pot off the plants' roots. Look at the bottom of the root ball and you may notice saturated soil and the start of rotten roots. Make sure your pot has good drainage holes in the bottom and repot the plant and let it dry out.
