Is it okay to leave Compost and Soil out in the sun

I bought bags of compost and soil from big box store and I left them in the backyard where there's plenty of sun in the afternoon. Is that okay or it's better to leave them in the shade?

I bought bags of compost and soil from big box store and I left them in the backyard where there's plenty of sun in the afternoon. Is that okay or it's better to leave them in the shade?

I may be a little better to leave them in the shade but not enough to worry about. It might kill some of the microbes but they are easily and quickly replaced.
