I'm desperately trying to save a buxus that was moved (by non-professionals) during a gardening project last October. It seemed to be doing ok for a while but now is going brown (when compared to my other two that weren't moved - see the photo) and I wonder if it's dying. It does still seem quite green in the internal stems but the outer ones are browning.

I think I've successfully treated it for moth (I think I'm successful as there are no traces of the caterpillars and my other two buxus seem to be doing well) so is it now not happy because it was moved or is it just recovering from the moths and will come back to life

It looks pretty good, all things considered. Trim off any brown parts so you'll know if it's getting better or worse. Now is a good time to apply a mild fertilizer.

For being planted in Oct its looking good. Remember it has to balance what those damaged roots can do for the topside. The growing season, here anyway, is just started good so it appears to be getting its greenhouse in order is all. They are notoriously slow but steady growers.

My friend thought he had completely lost his to disease, it was down to ground level, but it came back next year. I have a nice variegated one and regularly take cuttings, they can take a long time to root. I check every six months or so to see if I have roots and sometimes it can be as much as two years, but they stay alive. It's pretty tough stuff, don't give up hope.
