It also helps to know what part of the world and what type of climate the tree is growing in. This will give people some clues. I see you are in the US but that covers a lot of climate zones. This is a cultivar of Mountain Laurel (Kalmia latifolia), an evergreen shrub in the Heather Family (Ericaceae), native to the eastern United States. Other common names for this plant are Calico Bush and Spoonwood.
