Canna...or?

At first I thought this was some type of hosta, but they are getting taller and look more like a canna. I don't remember flowers and this is only the second spring we have been here. PO planted all of this. Can someone confirm this as a canna? Pretoria maybe?

It's a Shell (or Variegated) Ginger plant, not a true ginger. I have two in my yard and they bloom this time of year; the bumble bees love this flower. http://www.south-florida-plant-guide.com/variegated-ginger.html

It looks like Alpinia zerumbet 'Variegata".

Yes, thank you both! That does look more like it. I'm going to move one to a sunnier location, perhaps it will flower better.

Don't move it to a very sunny location they do like some shade, especially afternoon shade; see the link in my first post.

It's in pretty much full shade right now. I have a spot with better light that will still offer some shade. Probably 4hrs of sun, maybe a little less. Around the base of a tall sago.

Wow They are lovely & I want one, but growing in the Uk is not easy as it gets to cold for them out side so you have to dig them up and store till spring or grow in a heated green house here. I'm jealous But Hope they flower for you
