The soil in my garden looks so dry and pale, but when I moved it around, it looked so much more healthier. Am I allowed to move around the top layer of soil? Will this improve my plants at all? Look at the difference between the soils. Remember, that is the same exact soil. I did not add or remove anything, I just mixed it around.

So, what do you say? Can I do it? I won't mess with any of the roots. If this doesn't have any benefits, but won't hurt them as well, i'll still do it because it looks much healthier.

It depends on the plant as to whether its roots are shallow or not. You would be better served if you added mulch or a thick layer of compost around the base of the plant. All that you are seeing is the top layer of soil drying out a little.

Thank you. I moved it around. I didn't go near the roots. It looks so much better!
