I have bean growing my Blue Lake pole beans from my own seeds for the last 4 or 5 years. This year at least one of my 16+ vines is yielding pink blooms resulting in the usual green pods; but the seeds are black instead of the usual white. Does anybody know how this happened? I’m sure this vine sprouted from a white seed. I saved some of the black seeds for next year.

Not an answer, but something similar, I grow runner beans from saved seed, scarlet emperor and st george. scarlet emp have red flowers, st george red and white, the seeds of s e are purple, of s g white and they have always grown true to type. This year I have one plant, not sure which it is, that has red rather than green pods. I have not opened them yet to see the seed colour, but I am saving them.
