Hybrids are plants that are crossed with another plant. The results of this means that the seeds of this crossed plant will not come true or will not be the same as the plant that it was produced on. On the other hand there are the heirloom seeds which are called open pollinated. These seeds come from one plant and will be the same as the plant it was produced on. It takes many generations of cross breeding plants to achieve a viable hybrid. Hybrids are developed to improve disease resistance, production and other factors. The only thing wrong with hybrids is that you cannot save the seeds, plant them and expect the same thing. You can save them and plant them and they will sprout and grow but you never know what you will end up with. Do not be confused with hybrids and GMO's. They are two separate things
