I've very new to this, so excuse me if the answer is obvious (whether that be obviously no, obviously yes or obviousy you just can't tell!).
Anyway, this one was maybe a bit bigger than the other ones I transplanted and was in a really hard spot to dig up. When I pulled it up, I accidently tore one of the thick roots. Hopefully you can see where it's broken in the photograph.
Anyway, I dug a hole about a foot-and-a-half deep, filled it full of a mix of old horse manure and rotting leaf litter and bought garden soil and planted it in pretty firmly.
What do you reckon? I'm just worried mainly on two counts: 1) having torn that big thick root; 2) because it wasn't that small (it's about 4.5 feet tall).
