Hi. I’m trying to identify this plant that has mysteriously appeared in a friends garden. It is quite woody and is about to go into flower. I’ve not seen one like it before. Any help would be much appreciated.

Caper spurge (Euphorbia lathyris). Bit of a weed and soon spreads by seed. Take care when removing as the milky sap is sticky and causes eye problems if one is not careful.
