I have heard that sunflowers can be eaten, well, their seeds can if you put salt on them. :)
Yes, of course, sunflower seeds are edible. Personally, I find them disgusting, but maybe it's just me:p. My sister loves eating them, she always adds them to her bread and to most dishes.

I am growing sunflowers this year. BUT am growing dwarf sunflowers. only two feet tall, 4 inch heads. makes a dramatic display in two huge posts of 50 each. have to get a pic here.

I suppose you plant many sunflower trees so that the birds won't destroy them. Lately I have never planted sunflowers, I used to grow them sometime back. I used to roast them or eat them raw.
