Strawberry bugs?

The first year we planted strawberries, I had oodles of holes in my leaves. It seemed as if some of the plants were diseased. Luckily it didn't spread to the rest of the garden, but aside from spiders I never really saw any pesty bugs...any idea what they could have been or look like so I can keep an eye out?

The second year, I had the same thing. There were less of my plants, mostly from that same batch, that were icky looking.

This year, I'd like to beat them to the punch and find a way to prevent them.

Thanks!

When you see pest damage but can't find the pest, try going out an our after dark with a flashlight. You might be surprised by what you will find. Once you find and identify the pest, then you will be able to strategize appropriate control methods.
