Through many years our Pachira Aquatica lost its braided trunks until only one remained. It has been thriving and beautiful. Recently, I was trying to stake it and snapped the trunk. It was NOT snapped in two, but I knew it was broken inside. I splinted and taped it, hoping the fibers inside would be intact enough to regenerate. That was three weeks ago. It has been losing bottom leaves and now the top of the stem looks like its "wilting."
If I make a clean cut at the break will it survive? Do I put it in water or soil? Or perhaps the rooted part will survive and put out shoots??
We love this plant. I hope someone out there can help.
