I planted my Sago Palm in the ground about a year ago. It grew much larger and new beautiful light green shoots formed. I was super happy but about a week later the new shoots turned brown while the original layer remained dark green. I removed the dead frounds. This same scenario has happened 2 more times. The plant has produced about a dozen pups which I’m trying to grow. It appears to be healthy but I can’t understand why the new growth is dying. Any ideas? Thanks, Sam

I did a little research on the possible causes of what you describe @Swmeyers
Here's some possibilities:
1) Manganese deficiency can cause that
2) nutrient imbalance or overfertilization especially high salts can do it
3) Overwatering or poor drainage can lead to root rot from waterlogged conditions can sometimes only affect the newest fronds.
Some things for you to consider. About the only way I know to determine # 1) is a soil test.
You can assess the other two possibilities with your knowledge of the care of the plant.
