new reply does not appear in new posts. where is it hiding?

Look in "your content" on your profile page.
Your reply to a post counts as an already-read new post so it won't show up as such.

When you reply to a topic, and then click on the 'New Posts' button at the top of the page, then the topic you have just replied to will not appear because you have already viewed it. However if you have clicked on New Posts, it will also bring up an option to view Recent Posts (the option is above the Last Message column on the far right) and that will bring up all forum content regardless of whether you have viewed it or not.
