I've never grown any Orchids, but I plan to try. They're such beautiful plants. My favorite are those that produce white flowers. Are Orchids hard to grow? Do they go dormant during winter?

They are indoor house plants in my home Claudine and mine bloom all year and rebloom to I adore them .

In summer in light rain I put outddoors for a wee while but of course in their natural climate they are outdoors .

The orchid in the picture is gorgeous, I love it! It's good to know that they bloom all year, thank you for the information. I live in Poland, so I would grow them as indoor house plants too:)

You should get some Claudine, they are lovely plants! Mine are currently sprouting too, so hopefully there will be lots of flowers in time for Christmas :)

I have three orchids: a smaller one and two larger ones. However, the larger one has lost all its leaves. I'm worried that it may be gone for good. I doubt it's from overwatering--I rarely water those plants (consequently, the other two are fine). I just have no idea what happened to it. Any thoughts?

Hello Leah are your orchids getting a draught as they don't link the cold temps.

Post photos of your orchids to let us see.

You may need to cut the stem down of the one that is loosing it's leaves.

The feed with Orchid rain mix feed as and when they dry out every time water with this feed.

I do mine when roots are white and pots are light .
This works for me ,good luck.

These are my orchids. The one that I'm having trouble with is the one on the far left. I cut the stems down right after they started to decay.

Leah, looks like you are doing all the right things.

The only caution I would share is to be sure your bark mix doesn't decay and become potting mix over time. I almost lost my favorite orchid because of this and the roots rotted. Am still not sure it will make a full recovery. I believe that most people don't realize how little water and how much air the roots of orchids need.
