The proportion of white to red and back changes progressively through the seasons. If you watch carefully you can see each flowerstalk go through the spectrum from all white to all red and back to all white.
The hotlips were planted 3 years ago and have looked like the attached pic for all but the first year or so; whimsey white with a little bit of red year round. When I first bought them they were all bright red with a small amount of white. Trying to figure out how to get back that original deep red again. I bought the bright red to fit into the color scheme of the garden, but it has not turned out that way. Maybe there is some sort of plant food or supplement that will restore it to red. Thoughts?
