I' have several planted out in my garden. If treated as garden plants, they normally bloom in late Spring, early Summer. My Garden is on the cusp between Zone 9 and 10, where they do fine . In the PNW, if you are in USDA Zone 8 you might consider planting them in a sheltered, well-drained spot.
I love the deep crimson ones. I remember years ago my friend Jill visiting and telling me proudly how she had got hers to produce a second bulb. I took her out to the greenhouse and showed her the twenty or so that i had grown from the seed I saved from mine.
