This tree is about35 years old. Just noted today that a branch has been 'resting' at the 'wye' of two other branches. The picture ending in '147' is a side view of the branch, growing left to right (upward from the bottom left to the upper right). The picture ending in '155' is takem looking at the branch as it grows on and past the crotch at the wye. I'm sure this has been the situation for several years. Should I cut this branch off?

I would not.

The branch does not appear to be hurting anything, gives the tree some unique character, and the risk of harming the remaining tree by removing the branch isn't insignificant. It has made it thus far and hopefully it will make it another 65 years to fulfill its natural lifespan.

An old saying a wise person once told me "If it ain't broke, don't fix it."
