Hi! I bought a young Japanese maple in a Walmart clearance section a few months ago. It seemed perfectly healthy. In the last few weeks it has lost all its leaves. Today I repotted it to see if there was any issue with it’s roots. All seemed well. Here are some pictures of the tree now. I just would like to know if the tree is still alive or not.

I don't think it is but to make sure scratch the bark on the trunk and if you see any greenish color it is still alive. I think JM roots are supposed to be white if alive and brown if dead.
