In Central Texas, Celebrity for a dependable canning, freezing, eating tomato. For cherry tomatoes, I prefer Sungold, then either the red or yellow Pear tomatoes.
Roma for sauces, although it is prone to blossom end rot if it doesn't get consistent watering and enough calcium. The extra effort with Romas is worth the yield and taste.
Senior Citizen, what is the advantage of Porters? A neighbor brought some over to make marinara sauce, and they were small and not all that tasty, in my experience. I'm not disparaging Porters, just wondering why they are so popular.

To us the Porter has a different flavor than any other tomato and we like them in tossed salads, green salads and they are bite size fresh off the vine.:)

And I agree, the Celebrity is an excellent choice, especially as slicers and sandwiches of course.
