It will produce viable seeds. No telling the qualities you get from that new plant but, why not see?

I grew some purple basil by the name 'Around Midnight', supposed to be drooping for things like hanging baskets, not that I noticed. Anyway, it all grew a good deep purple except for one plant that had green and purple patches. It was a strong plant and I now have that and a green basil in flower , looking to get seed. The part purple one has a purple flower head, the green a white one; they look good together.
My seeds all came out of the packet, I am thinking it is more likely a variant than a hybrid. I bet the purple ones were bred from the green originally.
