The fruiting mulberry bush was wrapped in a fiber glass screen to protect form the ravages of birds. The fruit is plentiful this year and perobably five to ten pounds will be harvested.Without protection the harvest is almost nothing.

We have mulberry here and we call it a tree. Mulberry is not native to our country hence I didn't know that it is just a bush. We actually call it blueberry because of the color and we love the fruits. Right now, our mulberries are fruiting. We have about 5 bushes that my husband planted from the big tree that had to go when our fence was erected.

But may I ask, why protect from the birds? Isn't it good that you are feeding the birds with the fruits?

Robins sit on top of the mulberry bush and defecate all over the berries. Without protection the damage is extensive.

I have two trees. We do not pluck the fruits. We love to see birds eating them.
