You know I just thought I'd post this as a thought...

I'm really curious what kinds of trouble are going to come out down the road years from now as a result of the fake lawns and fake plants people are promoting. I looked them up one time and they have all kinds of chemical stuff in them that is bad for soil. None of the stuff in those is good. And eventually it would lead to all kinds of small animals and bugs having nothing to eat or shelter in.

Its even possible new types of illnesses could be brought about by those...

Yes, agree. I just don't get it. The less artificial stuff in our lives the better, as far as I'm concerned.

Not only are they of questionable chemical composition, but they rob us of much needed contact with plants. No, I don't get it.

It really is as bad as it seems.
Air temps above artificial turf can be 20*F higher than over asphalt. There has been at least one study that suggests goalies on women's soccer teams have higher rates of ovarian/cervical/breast cancers if they play primarily on artificial turf. There is a 'dead zone' under artificial turf due to lack of oxygen.

There was some talk about banning that fake lawn in Australia , as it makes areas hot

where it’s laid ,

it’s been studied and found the fake grass is poisoning's underground water :cry:

South Australia has many areas of underwater caves from way down south of Adelaide
around Mount Gambia to across the vast Nullarbor plains …. 3.000 km trip from Adelaide to Perth in Western Australia

Nullarbor Plain sits atop the world's largest arid limestone landscape, containing some of the most extensive and longest Underwater cave systems on earth

They are so extensive a group of cave divers went missing some time ago and have never been recovered

I’m with you @Meadowlark
I’d rather a yard full of weeds than that highly TOXIC …rubbish.

our transfer stations
that are now big bins ….( used to known as the dump ) are full of that as more and more
dispose of the stuff in many cases costs them thousands of $$$$

I suspect the T S charges quite a bit to dispose get rid of it ,as they do with Tyres

There is a town 20+ km from us where no one can did holes to plant trees , without having some sort of pump ,as it’s got shallow underground water it’s a flat area
it’s mostly native shrub like country rather then big trees

Just once I thought it understandable, a friend had two young, football mad, sons, and a tiny back garden. They turned the grass to mud in about a week, so he laid it, maybe 12'by 12', for them to play on.

I dislike fake lawns but I agree there is a place for them like OBs comment and then there is my friend with a small back garden with very bad arthritis who bought a very expensive artificial lawn. The blades of grass are at slightly different height and different shades of green.
