This is a volunteer that i have taken a liking to and wondering if it is a keeper. The leaves are alternate and quite large, almost 9 inches (22 cm).

A small tree is sometimes difficult to identify. Visually similar to Theobroma cacao.

Thank you @Larisa, this is an interesting possibility. I've been trying to grow a Cornutia rotundifolia in this spot but i haven't been able to find viable seeds for the Cornutia so i've been thinking of other options. The little tree above chose to grow here and so i think i will just let it grow and see what happens. I did notice, when looking it up, that the tree has dozens of pests but so far it has been mostly pest free. At any rate, it is very pretty and it will be fun to see it grow and what it grows up to be. I agree it looks very similar
