I spent a few days in France visiting friends and we found, in a long forgotten basement, this wonderful tool. It's great for getting weeds out of a raised bed (at least it was before a tine bent), but that may not be what it is designed for!

It seems very spindly, but would just screw into the ground as it was turned, and then would remove dandelions and all other deep rooted weeds by lifting out the lump of soil with weed entangled around the central tine.

Does anyone recognise it, as I would really like to get my hands on one.

Post hole digger or garden tiller, I believe. They look similar. Here is one sold at Home Depot.

I've had one for years. It's great for breaking up compacted soil around plants in a tight garden area. This is the one I have.
