Honestly I am afraid of snakes. Maybe when when I do see one I will also scream because of fear...

Verity and Amy, think of how scared the snake is! More snakes are killed by people than people by snakes. I understand you don't like the surprise of finding a snake, nor the slither, but without our little legless friends we'd be overrun by rodents. Go ahead and scream if you need too--snakes don't have ears so can't hear you. Treading heavily will shoo away snakes since they sense vibrations and avoid humans if possible.

@marlingardener I always heard they were more scared than we were, but I never stuck around to find out. I, and those around me, never really killed the snakes. The only ones I remember people killing are the copperheads and cotton mouths.
