Only 2 weeks ago the first blooms appeared on my Banksia Rose over the archway. Now it's well and truly blossoming. I cut it right back to the arch last year on advice with the promise that it would do exactly this.....I'm thrilled and wanted to share it with you guys.

I also wanted to share this which was an experiment of my very own. Using a tomato planter as a vase I planted the Banksia Rose in the centre and have tried to train it to grow upwards so that it would splay out of the top like a vase of flowers. I have had to secure the metal frame as the banksia became quite heavy and it tilted at one stage. I am pleased with the experiment and now

feel it is quite effective. After blooming I will prune it right back like I did with the arch so next season it will be fuller again.

Gorgeous! Don't you love it when things just happen just like that without you not really having to do much for things to go amazingly? It doesn't happen to me very often, but when it does it feels like a blessing. Really beautiful, too bad I will not have space for an archway :(

A centipede? Hehehehe, but seriously that happened to me when lifting something in my mom's living room. I hope it wasn't a mean looking bug? God, I hate those, they make me want to scream so loudly whenever I see one! specially centipedes... I've heard you guys have a lot of them there?

Haven't seen a centipede in a while. Maybe I'm not looking hard enough. I don't think I mind them. I don't remember being spooked. I'm too busy being spooked by big spiders. We have a wood lined house and had it painted white a few years ago and now they REALLY stand out. They came out of the woodwork, literally, when it's going to rain. I'm okay if they stay up high, not in the bedroom, though. I have a pink butterfly catcher which I trap them in and run out the door and shake them off the verandah.....all very hysterically might I add.

Well Sheal I've been sniffing my banksia quite strenuously......I do hope the neighbors weren't watching:confused: ....but to no avail. Can't smell a thing. They look pretty close up though.;)

Beautifully done and gorgeous flowers! Oh how I wish winter won't come so I can continue to see flowers. But way, we have this forum, so I can still see flowers in bloom and gorgeous gardens from around the world.

How beautiful, I miss the trailing roses we had at the old house, they were so wonderful and quite hardy despite our winters. @DeborahJane Do you add anything to the soil to help support the blooms? I found ours did very well with the addition of some acid to the soil, I used pine to cover the basis in the winter and it seemed they liked it a bit acidic. I am just wondering if this type of rose is similar?
