Alp I went to a near by nursery today and they had a grand display of Hellebores, I got my nephew to take some photos for you & everyone else. They are all 'Harvington varieties', which are a specialist grower based in Evesham. Lots of pretty much everything.. black doubles, yellows & huge single pinks, over 25 varieties.

Oh Woweeee !!!........absolutely stunning!!!! What a brilliant choice! Did you buy any? @Mark56

I didn't in the end, I'm a plantaholic so told myself that I wouldn't stray from my list ;) pricey but absolutely beautiful. The sun was shining and the honeybees were out. I've spent far too much this month on Dahlia tubers and pulmonaria's. The Winter/Spring garden will be my target for next year.

@Mark56 You're so lucky! Such a generous display. I think I have bought this one TWICE OVER.

The ones that I bought were called Anna's Red or Madame Lemonier. I have the feeling that they are the same thing. What's the name of this place please? I must go and pay a visit when we go that way. I actually went in what know what once or twice. According to the display, you're very lucky.Lovely flowers and photos. I bought quite a few this month, so you know how broke I am! Broke but very happy! Another happy thing is that I suddenly got a letter from a bank, telling me that I have £500 in an account, which I didn't even know!:LOL::LOL::LOL:! Good to pay towards road tax and insurance.

@Zenji I thought you would have a bit of sun later. When I went out to the park, we didn't see any green parakeets. It was 8:30am and we were literally freezing inside the car. I could not believe how cold it was. So it must have been very cold your way. Then after 10am, everything heated up and it was so nice with unbroken sunshine. Hope it was the same your way.

Whoa! Great restraint you have, @Mark56 !

@Upsy Daisy When I was falling, I was very scared as I wondered if my bones would be broken. Thank heavens that it has just been a terrible shock. Thank you for asking.

Today, I finally have got a tiny Monkey Puzzle tree. Er hum, very tiny and I asked to pay £10 instead of £15.

You know the saga of the labels. Here is the 3rd episode

The label resembles Lily the photo of which I uploaded a few pages back

But this is the flower

I was chuffed as this flower actually looks like the washbabies I have lost. I won't complain to the owner, but I will write him an amusing email. 3 labels for 3 wrong items.

@Mark56 I read in the magazine that Harvington chose the best varieties to cross pollinate. After this year, I might start growing some of mine in pots. The slug damage has been terrible. I am green with envy - all from Harvington. I saw mostly white, and some varieties from Holland. Those from Holland have millions of buds, but the colours and patterns are a bit on the dull side. I really love the anemone type and have now 2 of them - one yellow and one white. I should have a red which I bid successfully on ebay. When it came, it has no flower. I was so disappointed. So it could effectively be anything!

Hope you are OK after the fall Alp, take it easy tomorrow and rest up just in case you are bruised. I can only hope to have a quarter of the magical collection you've gathered.. the double yellow was a particular favourite of mine. It was in Dorney Court, Eton - a small nursery, this display is on until the end of February otherwise it's over to Evesham for the specialities. Lots of honeybees foraging on the downward blooms, they really do look great en masse or surrounded by pulmonaria, aconites, snowdrops & early daffs for a serious pop of colour.
