Spotted this in the garden today. It was very sluggish and I think it was dying. I do see the occasional dragon fly flitting around here, more so than butterflies.

I tried three times to run it through AI for ID @Sheal and got a different answer each time and didn't get a hit on what I thought it was.

I'm stumped...but it is an interesting one.

My bad. I failed to tell the AI assistant that the photo was from UK and not Texas.

When I did that presto...Golden‑ringed Dragonfly (Cordulegaster boltonii).

The annual Monarch Butterfly migration from North America to Mexico or California should be underway now or will be very soon. Last year, it was October and later that they passed through this portion of East Texas on their way south to Mexico.

A few have been posted in this thread this season but there should be many more as the migration gets going strong. Hoping North American members will keep an eye out for them and post up photos.

Last Oct. was great here but can't wait for this year's migration....
