I had a set of Sebatier, when they were nicked I got another set, but the company had been sold, they were not the same, got myself a Gustav Emile Ern, expensive, but worth it.

It should have been a golf day today, but I didn't fancy playing in the rain. Wednesday was a competition day, We book tee-times in threes. The tee-sheet for the day is always filled between 8.00 am and 2.00pm by the day of the competition.
So it isn't fair on those who can't play between those times, not to play, if you've booked, regardless of the weather, if the course is open.
But Mondays and Fridays, we have a "roll up" so whoever turns up gets split into teams, for a friendly competition.
I had an e-mail this morning to tell me the course was open, but buggies were banned.
On Wednesday, buggies were allowed but had to stay in the rough as they would damage the fairways due to the wet ground.
So it must be pretty bad today.
Most of us have electric trolleys like mine. These have a 30v lithium battery. Some come with GPS, which will tell you how far you are from the next pin. But mine hasn't, it's more useful for other courses you play, I rarely do, so I don't find it necessary.

Today I dug out my "winter wheels."
2020-PowaKaddy-Winter-Wheels.jpg

They are excellent in this weather as they don't slip when going up the many inclines. The regular wheels have no tread to speak of. The problem is that they are hard to clean after playing before the trolley goes into the boot of my car.
The club does have an air line, so you can clean your trolley wheels and shoes after playing. But it isn't always working as the green staff sometimes forget to drain the water out of the compressor's cylinder. Then you have to take them home muddy and need a bucket of water to steep them in to get all the mud off.

My golf stuff from Wednesday has just about dried out.

I have three pairs of regular golf shoes, so they all get a minimum of a week to dry out.
I put a rack for them, in what was "the coal cupboard" in the side of the house. It intrudes into the cupboard under the stairs and the tumble dryer sits on the concrete slab above it, so the heat from it help the shoes to dry out.

I've just received the winter golf boots I ordered. There will be days when I will need them.
They are excellent and came with a free pair of golf socks!

We have a standing joke when we're playing when it's cold and wet. "Those people working in dry, central heated offices, don't know when they are well off!"

I had a stroke of good luck yesterday.
We live in a small semi. Seating in our two "reception rooms" as they are called, is in the lounge, a 2 seater sofa and two "Stressless" recliner chairs.
In the front room (or my "den") two recliners, one of which is Stressless
One of the Stressless chairs in each room has a side table attached to it.
The problem for us, as I guess for many is when you have visitors, is where to put the coffee cups and saucers. With the sofa it's OK as there's a small coffee table each side, but there's nowhere to put a cup near the second chair. We've pale beige carpets and after a near accident the other day I decided we needed a side table on the second chair in that room.

The price of these chairs is ridiculous now as is that of the tables.

Here's a stock photo. Would you believe these tables are now £89?

I had a look on eBay. The cheapest second hand one I could find was £50.

So I looked through the "completed listings" and found a new one that hadn't sold which had been priced at £40, finished a couple of weeks ago and hadn't been re-listed.
I contacted the vendor and asked what they would accept for it and I've got it for £35. It'll arrive later this week and it's exactly the right colour!

I usually go out once or twice a week, mostly to the cinema or a nice cafe. Also, it is great to visit a concert now and then. For anyone planning outings, if you need to buy tickets, I suggest remembering the ticketmaster phone number for quick assistance and inquiries during peak times, it's super helpful!

Went down the Doctors after my fall last week to get my ears checked, no wax, lovely and clean. My outings are mostly doctors and clinics.

I've been to the clinic a couple of times to have wax removed from my ears. It's a free service under the NHS. You don't have to wait more than two weeks in our area.
As I understand it the ear canal in older people sheds some skin, so bits of wax can get stuck on the skin that's still attached to the canal. Even the treatment at the clinic cannot always remove all of it.
I've not had any problems for couple of years, but I do occasionally use Otex hydrogen peroxide ear drops.
My wife bought me a Wush ear cleaner, for my birthday last year.

But I've never got round to using it.

Had to go to Eastbourne hospital where they took my eye out for a check on it, took up all the morning. The missing right eye has a loose lower lid, and the left a drooping upper lid. They talked about a stich in one and shortening the muscle in the other, but I convinced them neither was really worrying and if it works why fix it? "True, there is always a degree of risk in any procedure, but if it gets worse let us know." Reckon my eyes will probably see me out. (Get what I did there?)

I did some plumbing, putting in new sinks and shower. Had to do some yoga putting in the bathroom sinks.. makes a man realize this crap was much easier when I was in my 20's. 40's now.. takes a few beer to motivate my spine into doing things it doesn't want to do.

I don't buy a lot of clothes, as I have plenty. Many of which are two or three decades old. I've at least three dozen Ben Sherman shirts, both short and long sleeves. So individually they don't get a lot of wear. I must have half a dozen pairs of chinos and many more casual trousers and I've still got a couple of suits. No jeans, no trainers.

I have a few pairs of casual shoes and a pair of black "lace-ups." But I decided to buy some new "regular" shoes.

I chose these from Ecco. They have a huge range, many have really thick soles and look ugly, lots of "trainer styles, they seem to have fewer shoes for, "normal people."
I found the ones I liked, but they didn't have my size.

s-l1600.jpg

So I looked on eBay and found the size I wanted from Legends Footwear. They were £14 cheaper than from Ecco. I've got a feeling they are going to be discontinued.

I was "thinking ahead," as I bought exactly the same shoe from Ecco, five years ago and they are still in good condition.

I feel like saying something rude. Dr. called me and told me my blood count was low, gave me an occult blood test which came back positive, I'm bleeding internally, so I am now in line for urgent bowel cancer investigation. My leg has just about recovered from the blood clot operation, as much as it ever will, there is always something. Hope this dosen't interfere with my Spring planting too much, Why always this time of year? I wouldn't mind missing December and January.

I'm a bit miffed about this new DVD I bought from "Hive"

794912-Product-0-I-638689629003793077.jpg

It's the follow on from the original series of ten years ago, of which I have the box set, (18 DVDs). It was only available in the UK since 25th January, although it's been around for a couple of years in the USA. It's also available if you subscribe to Disney+ which I don't.

All are Sony videos, this new one says "UK" but won't play on my Sony DVD player or the old Philips one we have in the other room.

An e-mail to "Hive" received a quick response. They say they will contact the manufacturers. I would imagine, apart from those people who have multi-region DVD players, they'll be getting them back.

My DVD player is just a "cheepo," it was less than £40 three years ago.

I've since had a response from Hive, they say the manufacturers say "throw it away," they are giving me a refund.
