the Bible a collection of honorable, but still primitive, legends which are nevertheless pretty childish."

How about this for furthering Christianity?

Children left in tears after being told 'Father Christmas isn't real' by Christian charity worker who made them smash up chocolate Santas to 'hammer home the point'
  • Children as young as four were invited to smash chocolate Santa replicas
  • Parents said their children had come home from school devastated
  • They were told Santa Claus was 'made up' during a Christian assembly
  • The headteacher of Fleet Wood Lane School, Lincolnshire, has apologised

The Mary Bass Charity, which seeks to 'further the religious and other charitable work of the Church Of England' in the Lincolnshire district of South Holland, said it was investigating.

It is understood the woman delivering the assembly on Thursday was trying to explain to children that Jesus was the reason behind Christmas, not Santa, who had been 'made up'.

They were asked to demonstrate they understood that there was more to Christmas than sweets and presents by smashing up the chocolate.

SMASHING UP THINGS????? This is a violent religious zealot, for sure! 4 year olds and subjected to this scene and violence!?

U.S. Air Force sends 'extraordinary' flight over Ukraine in a show of solidarity and as a warning to Russia after naval confrontation between the two countries
  • The Ukraine requested an observatory flight with the US and other countries
  • The Pentagon called it an 'extraordinary' flight under the Open Skies Treaty
  • The flight was in part for the US to reaffirm its commitment to the country after Russia seized three Ukrainian naval vessels
  • The treaty is an international accord giving each member country the right to conduct, and the obligation to accept, unarmed military observation flights
  • The Pentagon said while the US is working on relationships with Russia it does not condone its attack on Ukraine naval ships in November
  • The Pentagon added Russia's 'unlawful and destabilizing actions continue in Ukraine and elsewhere' and can not continue to happen

Call Trump whatever, at least, here is a demonstration of moral courage. Ukraine was seeking help from the EU, appealing directly to Germany! Daily Mail is losing the spelling battle. Novemeber was corrected by me and can not???

  • Cities in France including Paris, Marseille and Bordeaux exploded into violence during protests on Saturday
  • Protesters smashed store windows and set fires around Paris and clashed with police, who fired tear gas

Before you buy an electric car, make sure it's the right type!

Hybrid electric cars should be banned from motorway chargepoints because they are taking too long, experts warn

  • RAC Foundation warns plug-in hybrid electric cars should be banned from using motorway chargepoints
  • It says some of them are blocking equipment required for battery-only vehicles
  • The latest battery-only cars need just five minutes at the quickest chargepoints
  • But it takes almost an hour to charge almost all plug-in hybrids at chargepoints

There are some hilarious comments on this

London's new 'ultra-low emission zone' that will force a million motorists to pay £12.50 a day or get off the road 'is expected to raise up to SIX times as much as the congestion charge'
  • The Ultra Low Emission Zone is being introduced in central London next year
  • From Oct 2021 it will cover an area surrounded by the North and South Circular
  • The £12.50 per day fee means cash-strapped Transport for London will collect between £700 million and £1.5 billion every year

One comment: The riches don't have to pay, like the American embassy staff and those paid for by their companies. Criminals don't pay either as they use mopeds! Hilarious!

Yellow Vest protesters erect a GUILLOTINE in Paris bearing French President's political party name amid revolt that has forced Macron to address the furious nation Monday evening
    • Yellow Vest protesters erected the guillotine bearing the slogan En Marche! in a threat to Emmanuel Macron
    • The move came after another weekend of rioting swept France, leaving dozens hurt and hundreds in custody
    • Macron, who has already made 'humiliating' concessions, is expected to go further in a TV address tonight

Compared with the French, Brits are meek mouse!

A whole can of genes

The gene-edited Chinese twins represent a multi-generational ethical quandary

The Chinese and the Indian just want to have the choice of sex. - they all want someone to perpetuate the family tree.

Why this obsession with HIV/AIDS? Cancer elimination will be more important. Having said that, one in six will live to 100. Governments around the world might engineer something different. Resources are finite and reality can be so brutal.

Totally agree here....I believe a bio-diverse planet is a healthy planet

https://phys.org/news/2018-12-bioenergy-crops-bad-biodiversity-climate.html

Excerpt:

A large scale expansion in bioenergy crop production could be just as detrimental to biodiversity as climate change itself, according to new research.

The study, which involved expertise from Durham University's Department of Biosciences, investigated the potential impacts of future climate and land-use change on vertebrate biodiversity across the planet.

The authors argue there is an urgent need to carefully consider biodiversity when expanding bioenergy cropland, for example growing oil palm, maize and rapeseed.

Familiar species that would be predicted to decline substantially across their global range as a consequence of an expansion in bioenergy cropland combined with climate change include the hedgehog (44% potential loss), red squirrel (46% potential loss) and common starling (15% potential loss), say the researchers.

Globally, palm oil production is already known to be having a detrimental impact on orang-utan populations.

You know, orang-utan and palm oil feature heavily on a supermarket chain and it is so sensitive that the advert is banned on TV.

Money talks and that's why world powers look beyond the journalist's death. All to do with jobs, money and economy. I can see no respite from this one.

Fortunately, even China is on board for climate change. When you see how their school children try to sit for their exam in smoggy and foggy day, you will understand why. Before, looking after the environment is a luxury. Now, awareness is raised and something good is being done, albeit slowly.

What CAN I joke about? Comedian cancels university show after students force him to sign 'behaviour contract' banning sexism, classism, ageism, ableism, transphobia... plus SEVEN other ‘isms’
  • Konstantin Kisin was sent 'behavioural agreement form' from SOAS union
  • Asked to sign form stopping him telling jokes that weren't 'respectful and kind'
  • Student leaders said ban was necessary to preserve the event as a 'safe space'

    :LOL::LOL::LOL:

He as right to pull put. Jokes are often cracked at the expense of others.. Anyone ventures one which is totally above-board please!

Trump reveals he would consider intervening in the case of Huawei CFO Meng Wanzhou and setting her FREE as part of a broader trade deal to ease rising tensions with China amid national security concerns
    • The president reportedly indicated that Wanzhou's release could be part of a broader trade deal with China during an interview with Reuters on Tuesday
    • When asked if he would intervene with the Justice Department in her case, Trump said: 'Whatever’s good for this country, I would do'
    • The report came just after a Canadian judge granted Wanzhou US$7.4M bail
    • Wanzhou was arrested in Vancouver December 1 and faces extradition to the US
    • Her release on bail is expected to placate Chinese officials angered by her arrest

This is how countries behave. Accuse enemy's citizens of spying and chuck them into prison and the other countries do the same, with or without proofs. Horse-trading and guess what, it works!

Trump says Americans would REVOLT if he was impeached after his economic success, then claims guilty Cohen 'should have known what to do about payments' to women, but insists they were NOT a campaign contribution
      • President Donald Trump says he's not worried about being impeached
      • Last week, federal prosecutors alleged Trump directed Michael Cohen to make illegal campaign payments
      • Cohen paid six-figure sums to Stormy Daniels and Karen McDougal, two women who allege they had a sexual relationship with Trump more than a decade ago
      • Trump says 'it's hard to impeace somebody who hasn't done anything wrong'
      • President also takes credit for 'creating the greatest economy in our country's history'

His policies of running the economy on credit could be a precursor to another economic melt- down, but according to reports (need to be verified), he wouldn't be in office to witness it. Typical of après moi le déluge!

Same here in this country, banks keep sending people offers of transferring their debts. When the latter becomes too big, the reckless spenders go bankrupt and in a few years' time, rise the groundhog!
