I received a planter as a gift It is 2'x4' and 7 inches deep. I know absolutely nothing about herbs and spices...and I mean nothing !! All I need are some suggestions as to what to plant in them and then I will study up on them. I can put it where there is plenty of sun (8 hrs) especially morning sun. I am learning that differant items have differant soil depth requirements so I need suggestions for 7 inches of soil. I will eat just about anything so fire away lol. Just kinda lazy so I would prefer plants that don't need too much attention. But I am able to water every day if necessary. Maybe a few things I can cut off and throw into dinner all Summer long. Thanks

TYVM I have researched and come up with basil, thyme, flatleaf parsley and rosemary. But that is based on whatever I could peice together on the internet. Don't know if its right . But I would love to grow oregano. I studied the planter and I can easily increase its depth to about 9 inches. But I thank you for your response

My first herb was sweet basil. I used in spaghetti you can taste the fresh basil geneovese. It's amazingly tasty, am easy to grow an learn to save seeds. For a beginner, you like plants that don't need attention. One I think would be a good choice is cilantro. It can grow with grass. It's very delicious when tender
